6. We very strongly recommend you to use your regular
credit card. It is the fastest, and safest way for you to do transactions
with any web site. If you use a standard credit card, any false charges
can be taken off instantly by your credit card company.
Some people are still afraid of web site sales and are
using their check book debit card to make their transactions. This
is not anywhere as safe as using a regular credit card. With many
"check book" debit cards, it is extremely difficult to get
your money back from your bank if someone steals your check book debit
card number. Someone who steals your checking account debit card number
can wipe out your checking account balance. Also if you have your
savings account tried to your checking account, they can wipe out
your savings account as well.
If you have a large savings account, you should NOT
have it connected to your checking account. Your bank can can have
this connection broken for you if you ask them to. You should find
out from your bank if your larger savings account is tied to your
checking account and have the link broken. You can also open up a
smaller savings account to have tied to your check book if you worry
about overdrafts. You should discuss this with your bank as checking
accounts are getting hacked into a lot. It is the "New Wave"
that is happening.
In a large story in our home newspaper about this recently.
It stated that if you don't show your bank the fraudulent charges
within 20 days of receiving your statement, the banks are not required
to give you any money back. So you really need to open and check your
checking account statements as soon as you get them. We provide this
information not to scare you, but to inform you so that you can be
safe.
